Brilliant for bread and baked goods, fantastic for fresh products and the best for cheese, BIO PLA film is the perfect match for convenience products allowing them to breathe whilst keeping them fresh.
BIO PLA films are manufactured from NatureWorks PLA (polylactic acid), a polymer derived from cornstarch, an annually renewable product. It has excellent product features and is completely biodegradable, turning into water and carbon dioxide during composting.
BIO PLA can be composted in an commercial compost facilty, however this option is not widely available in Australia. If the packaging ends up in landfill, it still has upstream environmental benefits, such as reduced greenhouse gas emissions and reduced dependence on fossil fuels. To gain maximum advantage though, the compost bin is the recommended destination, completeing a cycle by enriching the earth that helped produce it. |
